About the event
If you’ve been meaning to learn how to sew—or you’ve got some experience with a sewing machine - this class is the perfect place to make a beautiful cork wallet you can use or gift! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn essential sewing skills while making a stylish cork wallet.
We’ll walk through the basics step by step, including how to thread and operate a sewing machine, cut fabric, sew straight seams, and finish your pieces with confidence. Along the way, you’ll pick up tips and techniques that will set you up for future sewing success.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or just need a refresher, this is a relaxed, supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace.
What’s Included:
Step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor
Wallet pattern
Cork and vinyl material to make one wallet
There are a limited number of sewing machines - please let us know if you will be needing one to use.
Optional Items to Bring:
Your own sewing machine to learn how to use your machine (must be in known working condition)
A sewing kit, scissors, pins, etc.
Fabric to make a second wallet (if time allows)
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a finished cork wallet and the skills—and motivation—to keep sewing long after the class ends.

Note: This class does not include food. All of our classes are BYOB and we will have coffee, tea & water available
Note: If you are bringing your own machine, come 15 minutes early to set it up and be ready to start on time.
This class is taught by Shondell Dahm. Shondell is a former teacher who turned her passion for sewing into a full-time business. As the owner of The Stitch Witch Vermont, she creates custom embroidered pieces, produces bulk embroidery for businesses and organizations, and designs professionally crafted handmade bags, upcycled clothing and stuffed animals. She loves teaching others how to bring their own ideas to life through sewing and textile arts.
