About the event
Brighten up your kitchen or desk with a beautiful felted desert plant without the prickles! In this beginner friendly felting workshop, you will learn how to make a solid 3D sculpture entirely from wool fibers. We will use a special barbed needle to felt our projects and learn how to add dimension to the basic shape of your cacti and add colored fibers to make your cacti bloom. After felting, we will plant our cacti in a small terracotta pot and add decorative stones.

About the Artist:
Stacy Gates owned and taught at Manchester Arts, concentrating in ceramics, fused glass and textile & fiber arts. She has taught art and fine crafts to both adults and children for more than 25 years. As an artist and maker, Stacy works in a variety of mediums, as she is fascinated by color, texture and pattern. Her current obsession is fused glass, and she has been creating and teaching this for more than five years. In addition to her own art, Stacy is passionate about helping others find or rekindle their creativity through art and working with their hands. Stacy has a BA in Psychology and Business from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University. In addition to her formal education, she studied sewing and fashion in NYC and has taken many classes and workshops in numerous art and craft fields. She has recently moved to Florida but still lives with her husband, David, in Manchester Center, VT during the summer months.
